Case study — light manufacturing workshop in Porto cuts peak demand 38%

10 April 2026 · 4 min read · NEXON Solutions Team

A precision-machining workshop in Porto, Portugal, ran a familiar problem: peak demand during machining hours pushed their tariff into a higher band, while the rest of the day sat well below contracted capacity.

Working with a regional NEXON distributor, the workshop installed a 30 kWh PowerVault stack (six modules) paired with two HybridX 6 inverters operating in parallel. The system is configured for peak shaving, charging from PV and off-peak grid imports, and discharging during the workshop's high-machining windows.

Three months in, peak demand during the highest-load 4-hour window dropped by 38%. Average grid imports during peak hours are down 51%. The customer is on track for system payback inside 5 years, well within the warranty period.

The system is monitored remotely by the distributor's NOC. To date, zero field interventions have been required.
